About the Owner, Robin Sengelmann

Mexico has always been close to Robin Sengelmann’s heart. She is passionate about the culture and spiritual essence behind each artisans work.

Robin’s vision for The Cardinal began 28 years ago. When the opportunity arose for her to open the doors, the implementation came easy. Her goal has been to create a fun environment for people of all budgets to shop for quality, handmade items.

Robin travels to Mexico several times throughout the year to find unique products for The Cardinal. She ventures from city to city and from the coast to the mountains meeting and purchasing from local artisans. About 90% of the products for sale are handmade and purchased directly from the artisan, supporting fair trade practices. Currently her favorite places to purchase goods are San Miguel, Monterrey, and Costa Rica.
